Nerang Soccer Club’s former President, the late Bob Jeffrey, is to be honoured and remembered at a field dedication ceremony to be held next Saturday, 3rd of June.
Bob was truly a dedicated and committed part of the Nerang Eagles family, whose tireless work, involvement with every aspect of the club and leadership helped Nerang stay true and strong throughout his time as President.
Perhaps Bob’s only passion and interest stronger than football itself at the club was the sheer weight of his positive contribution and love for our juniors and every single young Eagle – a great many of whom he knew by their names.
Bob was a hands-on President who often was the first to start and last to leave when time permitted him to do so – coaching, mentoring, cheering on the club in every way, and being there on the ground to support every single team that pulled on the red shirts.
The sudden and unexpected loss of Bob was a difficult time for all of his Eagles family, however especially difficult for his own Jeffrey family who stay on with the club today and continue his legacy.
On Saturday the 3rd of June, after the Reserves Match and before the Firsts match kicks off, the club, in partnership with the City of Gold Coast council is hosting a very special ceremony to officially dedicate our Field One to Bob Jeffrey and forever have it named so.
The public is invited to attend and show their gratitude and thanks to Bob, as well as join with delegates and special guests afterwards on the clubhouse terrace.
Supporters are encouraged to stay on and watch the first match ever on the newly named Bob Jeffrey field, and mingle with guests at the clubhouse over drinks.
Special invited guests include members of the Jeffrey family, Nerang Soccer Club past and present icons, supporters and players, Football Gold Coast representatives, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, Deputy Mayor Donna Gates, Queensland Member for Gaven Sid Cramp and area Councillor Bob LaCastra.
This very special event and ceremony is a reflection of Bob’s contribution to the club as well as a celebration of his positive impact on the club, especially on all of our junior players and local soccer families for whom he served.
