The visiting LS Soccer squad from Taipei (Taiwan) have enjoyed a productive session this morning including technical drills and some fun tournament-style game play under Academy of Football Australia coach Jonathon Pritchard.
The session was high-tempo and fun, with Pritchard leading the visiting players through a series of specialised drills and exercises designed to test the skills of the LS squad and give them an insight into how the Academy at Nerang develops players and teaches football.
Backing up after a arriving in Australia early yesterday and a quick session last night, the players showed no signs of letting up and gave 100% throughout the session, impressing the Nerang coaches on hand with both their approach to the football, and their character and behaviour.
After observing several sessions the Nerang coaches are certain that the players – ranging from U10s to U12s – will keep up with the Nerang players tonight as they return for a mixed session of fun training games alongside a select group of Nerang and Academy of Football Australia players.
On Friday afternoon the LS Soccer squad will return to the club for another training session with a BBQ dinner at the clubhouse, staying on to then spectate an U15 JPL match on the main field which runs into the evening.
Nerang Assistant Junior Coordinator Luke Sorensen said the kids are fitting in well with Nerang’s coaches and players already, and that the visiting squad from LS Soccer has already shown they possess qualities on and off the field.
“Seeing the kids train, you immediately become aware that they have good discipline and they are knowledgable about football – it will be interesting to see the two styles of football, from Nerang and from Taiwan, mix it up tonight,” said Sorensen.
The session runs from 5:00pm to 6:00pm tonight at the club on Field 2, parents and spectators are welcome to come and check it out.
