Former Gold Coast City NPL fullback Tim Jackson has inked a deal to lace up with the Nerang Eagles for the 2019 Football Gold Coast Premier League season.
In a stunning move, the veteran player and fitness expert will leave his 2018 posting as Strength And Conditioning Coach for Gold Coast United behind, instead bringing his wide array of skills and experience to Nerang for the upcoming 2019 Premier League campaign.
The opportunity to play football under the masterful eye of renowned coach Dave Benigno was enough to tip the scales and entice Jackson to become an Eagle, and to take up the game again following a year on the sidelines doing fitness work for Gold Coast United’s NPL and SAP squads.
“I have heard from a lot of people that Dave is great at getting the best out of his players, so when Dave asked if I wanted to be a part of his plans next year it was only a matter of time before I said yes,” said Jackson, just moments after signing with Nerang Soccer Club yesterday afternoon.

Newly appointed Premier League coach for Nerang, Dave Benigno, said that securing Tim Jackson into the 2019 Nerang Eagles player roster would boost the team and the club’s game both on and off the field, and praised the young fullback for his work ethic and ability.
“Signing Tim Jackson is an awesome signing in so many ways. Not only do we have the pleasure of such a talented NPL player but Tim brings so many great attributes to the table, making him an amazing addition to our squad and the club,” said Benigno.
“His footballing qualities and mannerisms, intensity and professionalism are just a few things we can’t wait to have rub off on the squad,” he added.
Nerang’s focus in 2019 will be to expand the already diverse range of its senior football teams and options, with a significant focus on integrative football development that combines experienced players like Tim Jackson working alongside the strong flow of exceptional players emerging out from Nerang Soccer Club’s junior ranks and their in-house development system through the Academy Of Football Australia.
After the sheer domination the Nerang teams showed this year in both the U16 and U18 Football Gold Coast Junior Premier League competition, it’s little wonder that the future prospects for the Eagles is on the rise again.
Tim Jackson agrees, telling the club, “I have set some challenging goals for myself next season and I know I can achieve them with such a talented group of youth Footballers around me.”
Not just as a player, but also as a football-specific fitness coach, Tim is bringing his acute knowledge of strength and conditioning training to the Eagles family, and has also been working very hard on the opening of his new Gym in Mudgeeraba called Strength Training Systems.
Tim specialises in a wide variety of fitness coaching and training, from sprint training, core strength work, physical conditioning, movement and much more.
Welcome to the Eagles Tim!
