Confidence Climbs As Junior Teams Take Home Big Wins – Match Reports & Photos

It was a stellar outing for some of our junior Eagle’s last weekend, with our U6 teams leading the charge with a goal-fest against two gallant Burleigh sides.

Looking forward to this weekend’s match ups, the weather is looking fantastic – go Eagles!

U6 Red – by Luke Sorensen

Both teams played a back-to-back home ground fixtures, first up were the U6 Reds who wasted no time exploring their newfound focus of winning and keeping the ball.

The Nerang team was quick to find the net with Kyal opening the scoring on what would be a 5-goal effort for him by the time the final whistle was heard.

The early goal saw the team’s confidence soar and pretty soon every player was keen for a piece of the action.

Dylan ran home two great goals whilst Muku and Lachlan each had their chance to hit the net as well.

Sophie and Nevaeh were unlucky not to score but both turned in a tough effort for the full match, Nevaeh showing great tenacity and Sophie some great courage, managing to play well despite being unwell.

Equally great to see was some at-times desperarate and solid defence, which saw the final result hit the 9 – nil mark. A big win, congratulations to all!

Muku and Dylan were focused and determined

U6 Blue – by Luke Sorensen

The team fell short on numbers this week so, a huge pat on the back to Muku, Lachlan and Kyal who backed up and played another match to fill the numbers – joining the Blue team to make 6 total players.

Another fantastic effort against a tricky side, and again the ‘win the ball’ training has been paying off as they ran away with the game.

Brock ended the game with a fantastic hat-trick for his team

Another hat trick as Brock put 3 goals away – amazing Brock!

Jack’s enthusiasm was unstoppable, Kyal added two more goals to his days tally and Muku appeared to only get tougher as his second match progressed.

Some determined defence from Brock and Kyal in the second match

Great effort and a very proud coach, I think the end result was 7 goals to 1.

U7 Blue – by Rebecca Mulcahy

On Saturday we played a new team to the competition, Musgrave Green.

It was a great result for our boys with a 5 vs 1 win but I think we would all agree that Musgrave did a really good job only 3 games in and will be a team to watch later in the competition.

Congratulations to Eli, Theo & David for all scoring goals in this week’s game and a special mention goes to Justin, for putting his body on the line for a sliding kick and shaking off a nice graze on his thigh for his efforts!

We saw some great teamwork on the field yesterday, more passing and setup of goals before allowing others to take the shot.

The energy levels were higher and we were able to attack quickly and put pressure on Musgrave which allowed us to control the game, overall we were very pleased by the boys’ efforts.

U11 – by Sean Moyles

An early start in Runaway Bay didn’t faze the boys and they quickly took control of the game with a goal from Cristian.

Runaway Bay equalised against the run of play but a spectacular finish from Cristian for his second made sure that Nerang were ahead at half time.

It was more of the same in the second half as Nerang followed Coach Dave’s instructions, had most of the play, and were rewarded when Charlie took his chance well to score their third goal.

Runaway Bay had their chances too but some stout defending from Saksham, Angus and Alex coupled with an impressive double save from Boston made sure that they were kept out and Nerang could notch up their second win in a row.

U12 Div 3 – by Luke Sorensen

The team faced off against bottom-of-the-ladder Ormeau but despite being favourites for a win, were chasing some much needed goal-difference points to stay at the top of the ladder.

The team showed some dazzling skills and a lot of great passing to create a lot of opportunities, but finding the net was difficult with the exceptionally hard work by a great keeper in the Ormeau goals.

Will out the front and all flare as he continued to attack the goal mouth

Will played up front and after a series of frustrating misses, eventually put away a goal.

Nataniel nailed home a hat trick 3-goal effort, with his last goal just before the final whistle coming from a perfect assist pass via Lincoln.

The team ran away 11 nil victors although they could have put even more goals in the net.

Fitness and continuing to keep the hunger up will be the focus of training in the coming weeks – well done guys!

Tough and skilled goalkeeping from the Ormeau keeper kept the score from going even higher

U14 Div 2

A stellar effort against a gutsy Mudgeeraba team saw the Eagles run away with an 8 to 1 victory.

The Mudgeeraba team is an all-girl team – one of the top girls’ teams on the coast for this age group – who have decided to take on the boys’ division as a challenge this year.

U13 Div 1

Another strong show of resilience in a goal-strong match against Runaway Bay for the U13 team.

It was a back and forth match that saw the Eagle’s push that little bit harder and gain momentum, running away with a 6 to 4 win and another boost to their confidence.
