Firsts Face Tough Opponents As Eagles Metro Mens Team Blaze A Winning Trail

A tough start to the season for the Nerang Eagles senior teams after washed out games force the teams into make-up match overdrive and some tough early games put pressure on our firsts and reserves.

Despite a series of great goals, some gutsy defence and glimpses of form the two teams have conceded a few frustrating games including last night’s successive losses to the in-form Merrimac sides.

On the flip side, our men’s Sunday Metro Division side – coached by Gary Stone – have blazed to victory in their last three games with solid score sheets including an opening 5-2 win over Tweed United, feasting on the Musgrave Mustangs for a strong 7-2 win last week, and last night backing up with another convincing victory over Ormeau.

Nerang Eagle’s Metro team is blazing with a gutsy trail of victories early in the season, already on track to be a ladder-leading threat to the title this year

Last night’s win by the Metro team was however a bitter-sweet victory as it came in between frustrating losses for our firsts and reserves.

One positive highlight of the home games last night was a spectacular penalty save (images below) by our firsts-team goalkeeper in a match that otherwise failed to offer many chances for the boys in red.

The focus now shifts forward to our next run of matches this coming weekend and a fresh chance to put a strong foot forward for both the reserves and firsts.

It’s still very early days in the season and plenty of chances coming up to build some new momentum – come on Eagles!
