Statement From Our Club President

To all of our members, players, coaches, parents, supporters and sponsors,

Nerang Soccer Club wishes to announce the recent dissolving of our partnership with the Academy of Football Australia. After many discussions it was ultimately a decision neither organisation wanted to make however many competing factors and a desire for positive change drove the decisions which were made.

We would like to thank Gary Scott and Shane King and the entire AFA organisation for the tremendous work they have put in over the past 5+ years developing some incredibly talented players here at Nerang and managing a fantastic program which delivered much success to both organisations — we wish them the very best of luck and prosperity in the future.

Whilst we are saddened to see them go, we recognise that the Gold Coast is a constantly evolving football landscape, and we are equally excited at the opportunity for renewal and positive change that we have been presented before us here at Nerang.

Discussions and planning are already well underway to embrace this renewal and restructuring at Nerang, and I am filled with excitement and hope for the future of the club as we head into our 50th year celebrations in 2022. I am also pleased to see so many longstanding and experienced people returning to the club to get involved, selflessly putting their unrivalled passion and knowledge back into our club, especially benefitting our players and members.

As a club, we have always strived to create as many football opportunities for all as we can, especially for our junior ranks, and this will continue in 2022 with quality teams and programs for our youngest and newest players as well as exciting football for our many club teams of all ages.

We will also be introducing newly formed advanced programs and opportunities for young players who want to take their game higher and those seeking more from the game, featuring advanced technical development and challenging environments under qualified and experienced coaches and more.

Our club will remain in the newly formed QPL3 competition and our senior structure will also see a marked shift as we look to maintain some momentum from the recent run of enormous club success in the local Premier, Coast and Metro Leagues, and invite new and returning players into the fold to continue to field competitive teams within the established and supported environment that Nerang Soccer Club provides.

The club will be seeking new players and coaches to join our ranks in 2022 and we look forward to welcoming you all to the Eagles — celebrating 50 years of football family and success. We also have several big announcements coming and can’t wait to see you all back here soon.

As a club and as a family we are eager to take on these challenges, emboldened by change and confident that Nerang will remain a place where friends, families, players and parents can find football success and happiness.

50 years of Eagles! It has a great ring to it….

See you all soon,

Fred Stone
