2025 Myobrace Eaglets Program Soaring To New Heights

Nerang Soccer Club’s Eaglets Football Program has taken flight for 2025, with a record number of fledgling footballers hitting the pitch. The Eaglets Program is a specially designed program of football discovery for 3 to 5 year olds, with an emphasis on fun football gameplay, fundamental football philosophies, and activating a genuine love and passion for the game in our future superstars. This year has seen a surge in demand for the program, with all placements selling out in just a few days from the program’s initial announcement. Nerang’s Eaglets program offers one of the most affordable, accessible and comprehensive immersion platforms for football discovery in Australia, thanks in part to the generous support of its sponsors and partners. Our major sponsor this year is Myobrace Helensvale, whose input and contributions ensure that fees remain low and benefits high, with every participant receiving a full Eaglets uniform kit and a soccer ball to keep at the end of the program. The Helensvale branch of Myobrace are industry leaders in pre-orthodontic care, and are a notable Myofunctional Research Co. (MRC) flagship practice. By addressing the underlying causes of poorly developing jaws rather than mechanically straightening teeth with braces, their team of highly trained and dedicated staff focus on delivering effective early preventive Myobrace treatment. Featuring a unique clinic design, developed to achieve the best possible patient outcomes, the Helensvale clinic incorporates a dedicated education and Myobrace Activities centre where children can become involved with their treatment in a fun, interactive environment geared towards fostering compliance. This week, excitement filled the air as our Eaglets met with Myobrace representative Lisa Dickie, who handed out the brand new Eaglets uniform kits to all the kids, before they quickly organised for a series of fun activities under our Eaglets coaching team. The program is headed up by veteran former Nerang player and development coach Luke Sorensen, who celebrates 30 years involved at the club this year. “There’s a great bunch of kids in the group this year, and its been incredible to see the rapid improvement in just a few short weeks of working with them,” said Luke. “We’re continually developing and fine tuning the structure and systems of the program and its activities to create an environment that pulls together all the elements of the football ‘discovery phase’ of development, but also some deeper philosophies around freedom of expression, confidence building and generating familiarity with the football environment and team space. “It’s a little bit of organised chaos at times but we find by the end of the program the kids are beaming from ear to ear, and hopefully, if we’ve done it right, they’ve developed a real connection to the joy of the game, and a familiarity with the ball and the actions involved.” Luke thanked the sponsors and supporters, and highlighted the importance of investing in our youngest players. “We’re very grateful for the amazing support we get from sponsors like Myobrace, and of course the Nerang Old Boys & Girls social club who also fundraise for our little Eaglets. “A football club is only as strong as its foundation level, and right here we’re aiming to build a strong base – from our youngest and newest players all the way up.” You can check out Myobrace at their official website HERE and follow the official Myobrace Facebook also HERE   Unfortunately our Eaglets program is sold out for this block, but please follow our club’s social media for announcements on when the next term may be advertised.

Football Foundations – Skyridge Eaglets Program Success

PHOTOS: This year’s Skyridge Eaglets program has showcased some of the club’s newest and youngest participants in the game, providing football fundamentals to a select group of 3 to 5 year olds eager to play the World Game. In 2024 the club welcomed our new sponsor and partner for the program in Skyridge, whose support, alongside the Nerang Old Boys and Girls Social Club (Nobs), has been invaluable in ensuring the program has been able to be delivered with fantastic new equipment and subsidised fees, ensuring the program remains the most affordable of its kind around. The Skyridge Eaglets program was in high demand and hosted 20 exceptional young kids this year of varying ages and backgrounds, all coming together to take their first steps into the giant world of football. (Photos below) This year’s program also saw the arrival of Assistant Coaches including Lincoln Syers from our men’s First Grade FQPL team, and the return of young Kyal Sorensen (himself a former graduate of this very same program) who has since advanced to the highest levels of FQ Academy football as well as being part of Queensland’s National Champions team for indoor soccer (Futsal) in 2024. The program’s Lead Coach Luke said that this year’s fresh batch of fledgling Eaglets have been some of the best through so far in the year’s he’s been involved with it, with an exciting array of kids demonstrating some incredible skills and passion for football activity. “It’s been fantastic to see the rapid growth in many of the players, we’ve had some really great kids through who’ve shown tremendous courage and really embraced the concepts of the game in such a short amount of time,” said Luke. “It’s not just learning new football skills, it’s much broader than that, it’s all about the kids taking their first steps into a much larger world of group activity, of physical challenges, movements and coordination, focus and discipline, but above all loads of fun!” The Discovery Phase of Football Coach Luke says that it’s critical young players in this phase continue to develop a strong connection to the game, as it’s that connection which lays the foundation for passionate learning and resilience in the later years of their football journey. “The program aims to help kids develop a strong connection to the game in their early formative years, that they learn to love the game and associate football with fun and enjoyment, with a real sense of achievement.” “We’ve developed specific activities and games that put fun and excitement at the forefront, but also get the kids involved as a group and allows them to discover the basic skills and movements which form the foundation of football activity.” “It’s critical that young players, from the ages of about 4 up to 8 or 9 years, develop a strong affinity and love for the game first, and within that framework we will of course sneak in some ball control challenges, speed and agility, coordination and vision — a whole bucket full of core football skills both on the ball and off it.” “There’s no pressure, it’s freedom of expression and freedom of exploration, and the kids can go at their own pace, opt in or out as they please — something we believe is also vital to making sure that the kids embrace football as a whole, that it’s something they want to do, not have to do.” “They’ve all rapidly improved and developed new social skills, confidence and physical abilities, and there’s certainly been a few stand outs within some of the older kids who we’re sure will be back next year to step up and join one of our U6 teams as they move into the next phase.” Nerang Soccer Club President Fred Stone said the popularity and success of the program demonstrates that football remains one of the most sought after children’s team sports. “It’s great to see the demand growing and we’ll be looking to possibly expand the program in 2025 to allow even more kids to get involved and be part of the Eagles family down here,” he said. As part of the program, a handful of the Eaglets this year had the privilege of participating in a goal-shooting exhibition in front of spectators and members at our senior men’s FQPL team’s last home game for the season. Eaglets showcased their goal shooting powers to the cheers from the terrace, and shortly after a surprise visit from the Nerang Eagle mascot, they were tasked with leading our men’s senior team out onto the pitch at the start of the match — an exciting moment for all involved. The Eaglets returns in 2025, check our website and social media around Easter time for details of the next program.

Eagles Celebrate Triumphant 50 Years Of Football In Style

It was a star studded line up of Eagles legends who gathered at the Royal Pines Resort last Saturday to celebrate an incredible 50 years of the Nerang Eagles Soccer Club. Young and old, although probably more old than young, dined and wined in true Gala style over stories, incredible photographs, memorabilia and a little mayhem as the entire history of the club — from 1972 to 2022 — was laid bare for all to revel in and enjoy. Guests baring some of the biggest and most legendary Eagles names in history assembled — too many to name — with ripping yarns of fiery red cards, beer soaked dressing sheds, lifting trophies, tackles gone bad, taking on allcomers … the highest of highs and a few heartfelt lows. The big screens were alight with messages and timelines, imagery and sound as the club’s 50 years of football leapt to life. The club’s humble beginnings in a (slightly) undersize patch of grass at the Nerang Velodrome grew and grew to reach Perry Park grand finals and matches against some of the best in Queensland. The Eagles’ renowned battle-hardened juniors, our history in women’s football traced all the way back to 1974, a lot was covered and rightfully so — a few tears were shed for those we lost, and many more laughs for those we didn’t. Our modern club and the rollercoaster of a Celtic partnership, and the rapid rise and fall of our ranks as we navigate the evolving landscape of the game in Queensland. A huge thanks to the organising committee spearheaded by Jacko, a successful weekend in every possible way!   Sunflower fields offer natural beauty and therapeutic visuals, just as appropriate medication and antibiotics guidance can provide health and wellness.
